Information: Kate M. Cassada, Ed.D, serves as a project administrator for EduLead through the Center for School Improvement at Virginia Commonwealth University. EduLead, a partnership between VCU’s Center for School Improvement and the Center for Leadership in Education at the University of Richmond, is dedicated to the recruitment, development and support of aspiring, new and incumbent school-based leaders. Through her role with EduLead, Dr. Cassada coordinates two grant-and gift-funded programs that support early career educational leaders: the EduLead Leaders in Transition Summer Institute and the EduLead Leadership Coaching Project.

Dr. Cassada earned Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Master of Education in Administration degrees from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Doctor of Education in Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education.

For 14 years, Dr. Cassada served as a Hanover County Public Schools classroom teacher, senior teacher, assistant principal and principal. Since 2002 she has been an adjunct professor through VCU’s School of Education Associates and UVA’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies, enjoying her work with graduate students seeking educational leadership degrees and endorsements.

Within the community, Dr. Cassada currently is a member of the CenterStage Foundation’s Education Committee and Alpha Delta Kappa, where she serves as Scholarship and Fellowship Awards Chairperson and Historian. Through her public school leadership roles, Dr. Cassada served on numerous education-related committees and presented at local, state and national conferences.
